ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Name of the Program: FOR Children’s Education in UGANDA

Identification of the problem

Uganda, like many sub-Saharan African countries, faces major challenges to build up its education system.
At the most fundamental level it has to provide enough places for one of the world's fastest growing populations. There are more Ugandans under the age of 18 than there are adults.
So when a new type of award-winning school, supported by an international partnership, is being promoted to fill the gap, what is the great leap forward?
Is it the curriculum, the technology, new buildings? What makes it so much better?
A senior teacher in Kiira View secondary school, near the town of Jinja, says the best thing about the school is that staff get paid on time.
It's such a simple but important point. What is called "teacher absenteeism" is a major barrier.

Goal:

Ensuring right to Education to deprived village children in Namuyenje parish Nakisunga sub county (Mukono District – Uganda) through integration of support system and responsive community action.

4. Justification:

• CENTI CHURCH has got an access to reach to the non-school going children, and dropped out children of the community through this project. As Adela was working with this community member for the last one year and her Ugandan team are residents of these communities, it is succeed to acquire their faith and believe in Centi Church foundation projects.

• Community members and most parents of these children accepted her former project as their own project and that is why hundred percent participation from the community members will be the asset of this project.

At present around 50 children will be enlisted in the primary level education as we created opportunities for these children to take formal education and spiritual development.

• Conduct a study and assess actual basic scholastic needs required by the target children in community and to design a flexible model to spread these education basic requirements amongst children in target locations.
• Ensure community participation and create a community schooling method.
• To liaise with other organizations / stakeholders involved with the bigger gamut of the whole project, bring and keep synergy to work towards achieving the holistic approach of the project.
• To work within the existing resources and systems, strengthen and making it more functional and no attempt to create any parallel alternative.

They will participate in all the activities of CENTI CHURCH as their own work. This will be for the first time; they will realize the need of CENTI CHURCH for their own Spiritual empowerment. The parents will realize the importance of CENTI CHURCH as centers for the education of their non-school going and dropped out children. Children will find back their interest in schooling because of interesting learning and scholastic materials offered to them by CENTI CHURCH.

REPORT OF FIRST TIME APPORACH OF CHILDREN’ EDUCATION INUGANDA

Testimony By: Adela Hirlemann
Dear Pastor Rogers:

Please receive my greetings in the name of Jesus, trusting that our Father and God’s blessings are upon you.
Hereby you will find a Report of my activities during this first 6 months almost, that I have had the privilege to be in Uganda thanks to The Lord’s Grace and Love, and to you and New Life in Christ Church for giving me the opportunity through your kind invitation, to come as a Missionary to this lovely Nation that God loves and that I learned to love too, even before I finally got in country.

I came to Uganda on December 4th 2014, with the plan to stay for one year, as my air ticket says. To do what I know and what I can for Uganda, through working with your people: The future generations and even with the mature ones.
I CAME TO UGANDA WITH TWO SPECIFIC PURPOSES: TO DO VOLUNTEER “SPIRITUAL” AND” SOCIAL” WORK.

Since the day I came, I have stayed in Nangwa Village, Mukono Ditrict, where you stay, so I have always been closed to you and your family. In Nangwa I stayed with a young family who hostess me and who has also become my family. Tugavune Ronnie Wilson, his wife Sharifah and their kid Theo.
During my stay in this Nation since last December, I have been doing many things which I describe to you as follows:
I SOCIAL WORK:

- I attended to Speech Day on December 6th where I met some of the PTA Members, some parents, children and Mayor Johnson who was the Guest of Honor
- A few days later we organized a meeting with the PTA members so we could plan the Activities for the year to come.
- We made some plans and we talk about the way we could achieve them. If we needed changes we had to start by changing ourselves. And before Christmas we started having some weekly meetings which we still have.
- During the Holidays I met some important people in the Village. I went to pay a visit to Our Chairman and met his father and we all prayed for him and for the future of the Village. Then I also went to visit the Chairman of Namuyenje.
- Since the New school say started, I have been teaching to the children of P6 and P7 twice a week
- During those Bible lessons I try to go further than the very lesson and teaching them Values, Manners, a truly new way of living under the reality they live. We can always have a better life, with simple changes, personal, at home, coming from the change of our hearts through Jesus Christ.
Of course it is not magic, and won’t happen from night to morning, but the seed its being planted, for them to become good men and women, good husbands and wives one day, good Professionals, good workers, good citizens.
- Since the first day I could see the great job that he Teachers do with the kids under those conditions. There was dirt all over and on the classrooms too. The School, I could see, had so many needs as we all know. It also happens in El Salvador, Central America, where I come from, and in most of Latin American countries. We have poverty and that brings needs of course.
Understanding this, I tried to contact some friends who got touched by the children and by the conditions where Teachers and they have to teach and study.
Thank God some have responded and I am sure we can still do more with God’s help.
So far we have been able to do some renovations, with the money they sent us and I administrated as they asked me to.
God bless them!! We know who some are, some we don’t. But the most important thing is that God knows!!
RENOVATIONS UP TO DATE:
FIRST STEP
PHYSICAL CHANGES:
1. Cement the floors and walls of the class rooms and the Office.
2. Paint the walls
3. Make the verandah all in front of the classes
4. Buy some chairs for the teachers
5. Buy some balls for the children: football, hand ball and volley ball
6. Buy some swings for the little ones
7. The teachers and the kids also level the land and planted some trees and flowers giving it a new look, but specially making the kids, parents, teachers proud of this “new school”. As they call it!
EMOTIONAL CHANGES:
8. Now, the students and teachers are cleaner, and everybody feels better.
9. On the Parents Meeting to give them the Reports of the first Term, WE GAVE THEM THE TOUR FOUR THEM TO SEE THE RENOVATIONS.
They express themselves being happy to have chosen that School for their children and expressed being happy and grateful
10. The number of children has also increase a little bit, because the parents are beginning to believe that the changes are real!

We have a Project of Renovation, a Master Plan, with realistic ways, means and results. So we continue with our work.

Part of the SECOND STEP OF THE PLAN IS TO BUILD SOME TOILETS FOR THE STUDENTS AND TO FINISH SOME CLASSROOMS THAT ARE UNFINISHED.

Thank God, we have already started to dig the whole with the collaboration of some parents which are doing the labor.
We have the money for the bathrooms implements needed. Thanks to another donation.

SO, IN FIVE MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO MORE THAT WE EXPECTED!!! AND HAVE NO DOUBT THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO FULLFILL THE PLAN!!
WE HAVE COMPLETED PHASE ONE AND STARTED WITH FACE TWO!!

“As we know, at the end, the Spiritual work leads us to the Social work.”

II SPIRITUAL WORK:

1. I have been teaching some ladies from other villages like Namuyenje, and also some children about the love of God, and the opportunities and the true value that they have!!
All of this, by sharing His Word in different Community meetings, and at some Churches where I have been going with you.
Some ladies expressed that we have brought them “Hope”….that they needed that, to know they were important for God!! Among other similar comments….

2. I have also given Conferences to the children, about the problems with the Adolescents’ changes in combinations with the people from RWEYOWA, to prevent deceases and future problems.

2. I attend to the community activities where I am invited by the authorities. I also relate with people at the Village, and feel part of them. So I also attend to some personal activities, like burials, depending on where I am needed.
3. I go to visit and pray for some sick people, trying to be involved with their lives!

At the same time, as you know, and with the same objective:
“To bring hope and to show the people we all have problems but we can have a better life with Faith in a real living God, and by changing some attitudes and doing as God says and not as we think”, I have some gathering meetings with some of the PTA Members, teachers, borda borda.
It is an open group with different kind of people from the village. where we learn to know God’s Will and to obey it BY STUDYING THE BIBLE, and through THE VISION OF THE THEO THERAPY, WHICH CAN BE DEFINED BY “THE TREATMENT OF LOVE OF GOD TO MANKIND, TO HEAL OUR CONFLICTS THROUGH JESUS OUR LORD AND THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT”.
We pray for the needs of each other.
It is great that we have seen changes in the people and miracles in their lives.
Living testimonies.
There are persons that come and go, but there are some of them truly involved and with a real commitment of becoming “Exchanged Agents” of the work of God.
I ALSO HAVE ONE GROUP IN KAMPALA OF SOME YOUNG PROFESSIONALS who are struggling with some small business, with or without a job…but they are beginning to see the changes in their lives and to have testimonies of what God can do when we know what He wants from us! We talk about How to be Leaders they need to be, how to be organized. How to be good Administrators with time. How to manage their lives, their families, and their business accordingly with the Guide of God!! So I travel to Kampala once a week
AND STARTED ANOTHER GTOUP AT K I U KAMPALA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY Where we are hosted by the Head Sports Teacher at her office. She attends with the personal, when have time and we have 8 students from different Careers and levels.
At New Life Church, my Mission is to teach some Christian Leadership that can help you and to the actual Leaders of the Ministries to extend the Kingdom of God. Also I am here to be part of your Ministry whenever you require me, for different activities.
Through all what I have mentioned before I know I can keep on doing good for some people in this country by giving them of what I have been giving before and of what I have learned and that has helped me in my life in the three areas: Spiritual, Emotional and physical.
I know I can give more.
I also want to learn from this Nation. This works both ways…God brought me here to be of blessing to Uganda but also that Uganda becomes a blessing for my life!!! That is the life of a Missionary!
But everything needs time! We have just started to plant the seeds in their minds and hearts but they don’t have roots yet!! As we have talked about that with you Pastor, right?
HOW DO I FEEL IN UGANDA?
I FEEL FINE in Uganda!!. The country is tropical as mine. The people are friendly. The Culture is different in many ways, but at the end we are all the same, human beings. So, all we have to do is try to adjust ourselves to your way of living and we are fine. It is a matter of attitude.
I have been treated very well. People in general have been kind and helpful to me, and I have felt the support of you and some people at the Village. I have been able to visit some of the Natural beauties you have to offer us, foreigners like: Ssezibwa Falls, River Nile (twice), Entebbe Educational Centre (Zoo), Lake Victoria, KK Beach, and other
